Lightweight and strong aluminum alloys for CNC machining
Lightweight and high-strength applications. Aluminum Alloys have a density of about 2.7 g/cm³, which is lighter than steel. Some alloys (such as 7075) approach the strength of steel. Excellent corrosion resistance, specific alloys like 5052, 5083, 6061 are suitable for marine environments. Due to its lightness, widely used in automotive industry (bumpers and engine blocks) and in marine (ship hulls and accessories). Such alloys have excellent CNC cutting properties, suitable for high-speed machining.
Strength limitations: Aluminum Alloys may not provide the same level of strength as steel or titanium. Surface softness: Aluminum is softer compared to other materials, making it susceptible to scratching and abrasion. Costs: Depending on the alloy and application, aluminum may be more expensive compared to other materials such as carbon steel.
